“In a world that often leaves me feeling anxious, apathetic, and frustrated, my artistic process allows me to be the best version of myself -through exploration of new mediums, my subconscious, my feelings towards fellow humans and my own intentions I become someone who is focused, creative, passionate, diligent, hopeful, connected and calm. I strive to bring the same feelings to those viewing my art.”
Anna Kalachyan is an Armenian, Los Angeles based painter who creates elegant stripped back portraits as well as abstract works which she titles ‘Pieces’. Anna comes from a long line of painters, so it comes as no surprise that even after deciding not to pursue art at university and studying Marketing at UCLA instead, she still ended up becoming a successful artist. She first started by selling her works at flea markets and online and now her artworks can be found in private collections all over Europe and America. Anna mainly works with acrylics and mixed media on canvas and paper. There are two major themes found in her art: pieces and lines. Both are representative of the human experience. The abstract pieces are symbolic of various experiences that shape us and make each one of us whole. The shapes are born out of lines which are often created by accident.
