Judith, born in 1964, is a London-based contemporary artist known for her abstract paintings that seek to capture the essence of the subject through non-representational forms, colours and textures, often relying on alchemy.
She graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1986 with a degree in Fine Art and took some years out to raise her family. She recently completed a year at Turps Art School’s off-site programme, where she focused on the fusion of her abstract paintings with her continual study of the figure.
Her work often channels the energy, emotion, and movement of the human body, especially through the lens of dance. Drawing inspiration from lifedrawing sessions, sketches, and collages, Judith translates these physical expressions into abstract forms, creating dynamic works that mirror the immediacy and fluidity of choreography.
For Judith, painting is a physical journey—a process that allows her to move in and out of the picture plane, similar to the movement in dance. In addition to her abstract works, she offers life drawings as original pieces and also creates digital drawings, producing limited edition prints.
