Local artist Sangeeta Weatherley brings a vibrant and spontaneous energy to her work, creating expressive acrylic paintings that beautifully capture the essence of her surroundings. Originally from Hyderabad, India, Sangeeta is a self-taught artist with a background in IT and a Master’s degree in Information Systems.

Her earlier works focused on expressive landscapes, flora, and fauna, but she has recently embraced abstraction, inspired by the interplay of nature and urban development. She translates the transformation of her environment—particularly the changing landscape of Chiswick and surrounding areas—into bold, abstract compositions that reflect both nostalgia and environmental awareness.

Her latest series, Chasing the Sunset, explores the evolving views of West London as construction reshapes the skyline. By emphasising the artistic process over the outcome, use of bold colours, her work offers a sense of freedom and invites viewers to reflect, connect with lost memories, and find inspiration.

Sangeeta has exhibited widely in London, with her works now residing in homes across the globe. She was a participant in Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2022, standing out among over 2,000 applicants, and was honoured with the Inspiring Indian Women Bright Artist Award at the House of Commons in 2023. Her contributions include being one of six artists commissioned to create a mural for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, showcased by ITV News.

A strong believer in the therapeutic benefits of art, Sangeeta facilitates art workshops for councils, community groups, and corporates, fostering creativity and connection. Her work invites viewers to pause, contemplate, and discover joy amidst the ever-changing world.

Sangeeta inspires to create art that connects.
