Ivan is a self-taught abstract painter based in Chiswick, London, known for his colourful and expressive large canvas works. His artistic journey began in 2004 in Hong Kong, where he developed an appreciation for colourful compositions inspired by photography. Ivan was particularly drawn to the blurred backgrounds in images, fascinated by the random coloration that allows the mind to wander and influence the outcome.
After experimenting with various mediums and techniques, Ivan found his preferred method in acrylics on canvas, which complement his unique painting style. His techniques are varied and often unconventional, using tools such as syringes, sponges, make-up brushes, paint knives, and even sprays to achieve the desired texture, colour, and effect in each piece.
Ivan’s inspirations often arise from introspection, whether while visiting an art exhibition or simply strolling through the streets.
These ideas are then translated onto his canvases with unrestricted freedom, often resulting in works that evolve into something entirely unexpected. Ivan is eager to continue exploring the unknowns of abstract painting, seeking to reveal the images hidden within his abstract world.
