'The work gathered for my show is a culmination of two collections, that are inspired by my passion for nature. I look at flora & fauna & peel back the layers, then carefully recreate them in a step-by-step process. Giving the paintings a hint of design. Sometimes using repeat & pattern in elements. Working in both oil & acrylic for contrasting effects & using birch wood to paint on, as you can see the natural formation of the wood under the paint.
The peacefulness & tranquillity that I experience in the forest, exude through my paintings. Often alone, the calmness that I experience, I want to express through my art. With flowing scenes of water & koi I work on composition, space, colour& light. Then carefully plan with precision & detail.
From traveling the coast of Brazil, I feel there are endless possibilities for my collection. Seeing the hummingbirds come & go with magnificent colour, is something I like to capture in my artwork. My collection is an abundance of life & nature captured in flight.'
